Gas pipeline integrity
LG&E maintains the safety and reliability of its natural gas pipelines through monitoring, inspection, and federal compliance.
Safety is our top priority at LG&E
We maintain the integrity of our natural gas pipeline system to successfully meet our goal of safely providing natural gas to you without adversely affecting our employees or the environment.
We have resources available to respond right away to a natural gas pipeline emergency if one were to occur. LG&E emergency response personnel are trained in accordance with natural gas emergency operations plans that emphasize protection of life as the highest priority.

Our foundation: Pipeline Safety Improvement Act
Designed to improve safety and prevent incidents, the Pipeline Safety Improvement Act was signed into law in 2002. It requires pipeline operators to implement integrity management programs.
Federal regulations require operators like LG&E to identify and monitor pipelines in High Consequence Areas (HCAs) — locations where a failure could have greater impacts on people or property.
