Know what you’re seeing on your bill
Power Service customers typically have higher energy needs and different billing components than smaller commercial accounts. Your bill reflects not only how much electricity you use, but also how much power your business requires at peak times and the infrastructure needed to serve that demand.
Below are explanations of common usage terms, charges, and minimum billing requirements, so you can better understand how your Power Service bill is calculated.
How electric usage is measured
Meter reading types
Your bill shows how your meter was read during the billing period:
Actual Read (R)
An LG&E or KU employee or contractor reads and records your meter in person.
Verified Read (V)
An LG&E or KU employee or contractor rechecks the meter and verifies the reading using a handheld device.
Estimated Read (E)
The reading is calculated based on historical usage or prior periods. Any over- or under-estimate is corrected on the next actual or verified read.
